Media console tables – Finding an elegant media console that fits into a small space is not an easy task. Finding one that is affordable and that is also elegant and enters your space is even more difficult. Solution: Build your own! To start, cut three pieces of wood from 2 x 12 to 84 “long, you can do it with a circular saw or miter saw, or have them cut at your local hardware store when you buy them Cut two more pieces of wood from 2 x 12 to 15 “long. Take one of the small pieces that you just cut out and with a carpenter’s square leave an inch on each side and draw a line. Drill four test holes along the line.
Then with a drill slightly larger than the size of the screw head, drill larger holes with this drill just below the test holes you just drilled. Place the pieces on the floor. They should resemble a “Z”. Make sure the small pieces are aligned with the edges of the larger pieces. Place the pieces together with the screws in the test holes. Be sure to place the short piece on the other end of the console following the same method. Cut a piece of 2 x 12 to 28 ½ “long Center this piece on the back of your console Drill test holes all over the top, middle and bottom of the back piece in the joints with the shelves of the media console tables, fix the back with screws in the test holes.
Add reinforcements of media console tables! Cut two pieces from 2 x 12 to 12 “long, they will be placed between the shelves to give you more support, place these pieces in 18” from the open side of each shelf. Use a carpenter’s square to make sure they are straight and that they fit in the top and bottom. Use wood filler or filler to fill the holes where the screws were embedded. Once the dry, dry the sandpaper gently. Multiple layers may be necessary if the holes are deep. Use a rag to clean all dust or dirt.
